Hi guys, I went to my local dealer because I was facing some misfire and hesitation lately and a lot of flashing check engine in dash board. After 1 hour of worktime, he came back with a nice diagnostics. he doesn't know from where it was coming but was suggesting so change Spark plugs + wires + Coil + IMA... not to tell you that I just hit 165 000 km and I am not under warranty except from IMA parts....

I was not happy about this diagnostics and I decided to do some search first... I first did the procedure in order to clean the EGR valve...

During this weekend, I had some spare time so I decided to order the spark plug to change them...

I found something interesting. I must tell you that I am probably one of the first owner in Quebec. I got mine in september 2000. And I did run it in all winters.

The "Coil" are not so well protected from rust and as been partially destroyed .

Ill post you some random pics...

This is Picture 1 really showing the effects of rust.

Mod Edit: Please keep within photo rules, thanks

Honda decided to change all the 3 coil for free! Techline liked my pictures.

I hope I am the only one with this trouble

nasty

That's nasty  and very interesting pic. Should be useful for all other members, thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Might be useful for members to use some silicone spray on the coil metal transformer plates in an effort to prevent/reduce this. I will certainly have a look at these next time cover is off.
