In early 70's, for questionable cause, there was a major supply issue with gasoline in the USA and as a result, some relatively high prices and very long lines at the pumps. At that time, I let my driver's licence expire and switched to a bicycle. Eventually, I broke down and renewed my driver's licence, and while I still prefer the bicycle, my favorite bumper sticker from that era was on a big Oldsmobile, probably with a 6 litre engine that did 12 mpg on a good day.
