Well, it rains here, but I hate the rear-wiper. As long as you keep the glass clean, the water will bead off in the back. 
I used a plug from Civic VX (these never came w/ rear-wiper). I believe what Rick has put up is probably something similar. A bil metal plug/nub. Then, you just get a big washer & a bolt to seal it.
