Here's an update on a previous post of mine re: whining noise, and what response I could expect from Honda Tech. Noise in persistent/always present when you're simply cruising.....not discharging or charging. It's noticeable even to a casual observer, much less a trained ear. Been to the selling dealer twice. 1st visit - AHM said it was 'normal'. After 2nd visit -waited 3 wks for Honda tech to say it's 'normal'. (Hmmmm....replies to my post said that would happen)!

Called CA - AMH Rep said take her to a second dealer for their opinion. Told him nowhere anywhere Internet/elsewhere could I find mention of such a noise, even in car mags - whose test drivers would have really ragged & harped about such a noise. He said nothing of note was in their database either.

Asked what direction we go if 2nd dealer opinion recognizes the condition -he said Honda has 3 Guys that fly around the counrty, addressing these 'Gordian Knot' problems. I'm about to xross the bridge for the 3rd time Thursday, 8/3.....will keep you all posted on where this leads. Wish me Luck. Meanwhile - I'm send my resume to Honda for the 4th Fly-Guy.

Hi Scootr06,

Before posting a follow-up thread that is linked to the original please see the rules in regard to multiposting.

http://www.insightcentral.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42
(specifically #8 )

I've locked the original post and as _you_ had already redirected the post to this thread inserted the link. I understand the your original posts title didn't do this subject justice so I've chosen this housekeeping method to help keep the information "together".

Multi posting fractures the topic making following by the group much more difficult. Its not something new or limited to Insight Central. And by keeping the replies limited to one thread you and the group will be better able to keep up with them. ;)

Sincerely,

New '06 with Whining Noise - Issue Closed

Hi Again....
Visited a 2nd Honda dealer today to get their take on this whining noise. Met an 'Ace' of a service foreman who has been with Honda since 1975. Has repaired the CVT Xmissions....knows their workings inside & out. The whine is a Normal characteristic of the design. ALL CVT models he's driven make the turbine spooling sound. He mentioned the importance of adhering to the recommended tranny oil changes......and to turn my radio up.

Thanks for everybodys input. Issue closed......

Turn the radio on? Phooey! These little cars are almost too much fun to drive. Turn the radio off and listen to the Insight "sing" as it goes down the road.

Best of luck with the "Little I" machine!

Fred :)
