Good day all,

Excellent to see such a vibrant and insightful (pun intended) forum.

I live in Bloemfontein, South Africa and took delivery of my Insight on Saturday.

It is a 2013 model with 69k km on the clock (43k miles).

We only got one "spec" in South Africa and it seems quite unique with a blend of options from the various spec levels you find elsewhere in the world.

My car came with:

*Full black leather with white stitching
*Heated front seats
*Cruise control
*16" Diamond cut alloy wheels
*Aftermarket bluetooth
*Pearl white paintwork

The dealer I bought it from, had the engine rebuild done at a Honda dealer about a month ago @ R30k or rougly $2500.

The dealer is also fitting two new tyres today.

I am a bit ADHD with cars, I think the Insight might be my 18th (?) car since 2003. Granted some of them were company cars as is the Insight. Before the Insight I drove a 2010 Jazz (Fit) 1.5 EX.

The Insight's drive is just so smooth and relaxing. I've only driven with the Eco mode on and I doubt the engine's revs has gone over 2.5k rpm which means it's really quiet.

So far over a couple of km's since Saturday I'm sitting at 5.8l/100km (40.6 US MPG) and still dropping.

Pictures in separate post below is from the Auto Trader ad, haven't had time to take some of my own.

Very nice! Hope it gives you years of good service.
And thank you for putting your location in your profile. I have friends visiting
family in Durban right now.

Hmmm...

Seems we might have a slight oil leak after the repairs.

Hoping to get to the local Honda dealer sometime during the day.

Welcome broo! Good looking car, I didn't even know leather seats were an option. Very cool....or hot, as it were. I wonder why it needed a rebuild at such low km?

Do some reading, it's standard on the 2012/13 models. Bad batch of rings made them suck oil early on. Rebuild sorts it for life.

Ah ok, forgot about the oil burning in those engines. Odd that they made a change so soon after introduction of the Gen2.

The “low friction” piston rings were used on other Honda models as well. Why Honda would do this experiment on their customer’s cars is really unexplainable. Honda owners are used to being able to go 200k miles without burning oil.
