I just bought a 2002 CVT Insight from craigslist on the cheap. HV battery was flat but charged to 75% within the first 10 miles of driving. Since then I've put about 300 miles on it with 65 psi tires and a light foot on the gas, here's what I have so far:
140 mile trip on the interstate averaged 48 mpg with extreme hypermiling
City mileage is only around 45 mpg...
Any tips?

Welcome. On the cheap may mean the maintenance hasn't been kept up very well. Any misfiring or roughness? Any codes?

The mpg does seem a bit low, but it takes a while to learn how to wring the best out of an Insight. The CVT will never deliver the mpg of an MT, because it can't lean burn.

What tires are on the car?

It vibrates a lot when I'm stationary in drive, there's also an odd clicking noise that doesn't change in pace when accelerating. The car hadn't run in about 8 months before I bought it... it also has too much oil in it haha, the guy who owned it bought it in an auction and didn't know what he was doing!
