Hi everyone. As of a few days ago i purchased a 2000 Honda Insight off Craigslist. It has a little over 160k and is in great exterior and interior condition. Only catch is the engine is dead. The owner told me his wife was driving on the freeway when the engine just stopped. He had the car towed and parked it in his garage for two years. I offered him $500 cash and he they said yes. I'm excited to get the car fixed and start driving it. Yesterday i took one of the spark plugs out and ran a compression test on it, the needle read zero. When i get some time i'm going to take the valve cover off and see if it's what he was told was the issue. The cam shaft is broke or the timing cain/belt is broken. I guess i'll know where to go from there once i can diagnose the problem. Not sure if i should put money into this motor or just get a crate motor. One things sure it's been difficult to find a motor for this car online. Anyways here are some pictures from the day i picked it up. Thanks! :)

$500??!! What a deal. I saw that one and was sad I don't have room for another... It even supposedly comes with a 4 year old Bumblebee battery - 4 years old but only used for 2, right?...

$500 is a steal. Headlights alone look to be worth $250-300

Yeah the one in Olympia right? I have allot to learn about the batteries and the ima system. I hope I can get the motor running.

Congrats on this great find! The exterior looks great. Get that engine back together (i.e. replaced) and you'll be good to go. Welcome to the club!
Thanks! I've been looking around for a crate motor for it just in case it really is done for. These engines seem harder to find then a k20 or b series. Here's a shot of the interior and a few more from the day.
