I am trying to add tweeters and a powered sub to the stock stereo head unit and factory speakers.

The physical installation was a breeze, but when I went to wire it up, I feel I hit a brick wall. The wiring harness on the back of the head unit did not have colors that corresponded to the descriptions I found online, or the descriptions were too vague (there are 3 blue wires in the harness, which is the one they are referring to as the "blue" one?).

I was planning to use line tappers for a clean install, but now I am wondering about buying both the male and female harnesses from Metra. The Metra website does not say that the post 2008 harness fits my car, though other websites claim it does.

Does any one have experience with this in a 2011 LX and know for sure what I might do? I'm totally open to suggestions.

(Also, if I disconnect the radio, where in my materials from the dealer, does it provide the security code for re-initializing it? I haven't found it yet.)

Thanks for your patience with my ignorance.

I cant speak for the 11, but the 10 uses a common Honda wire harness. I believe all 3 blue wires are on with the radio if you are looking for an AMP on signal. One goes to the antenna amp.

If you are renting or leasing, Id buy the male and female harness so you can hack it as needed and leave the oem in tack.

Thanks Cobb. Since I got my Insight a couple of weeks ago, I've been trolling before posting and appreciate all your input on this site (plus your car and you descriptions of how it works are fantastic).

I think your advice is sound, and I should buy both the metra harnesses (even though I own the car, it'd be nice to keep it stock ready). I just have to contact them first to make sure it will work.

Thanks again.
