Hi, I am at the point my Insight is haunting me in my dreams. We own a 2012 facelift (wife’s car), which recently suffered un unpleasant event: timing chain jumped and messed up the valves, as expected. Instead of trying to get it fixed, I chose to replace the engine with a unit with 23000 km on it from another Insight that was parting out. The battery was completely dead when we took the car to the shop. To put it on the trailer we had to give it some power trough the jumper cables, so we can put the speed selector in Neutral. To take it off the trailer we had to do the same thing, only the person helping me reversed poles and everything went dark. Engine swap went smoothly, however now the battery doesn’t charge. We found a couple of blown fuses but that was it. Any ideas would be appreciated. I can’t wait to put the car back on the road. Thank you.

You are posting in the 1st generation section, years 2000-2006. You would probably get more relevant help in the 2nd generation section. I'm going to move the thread for you.

Since the battery isn't charging, just from my general knowledge of IMA systems, I suspect something is blown in your dc-dc converter which serves the charging function rather than the alternator on standard cars. It is also possible that your IMA battery isn't providing power to the converter input.

You should have trouble codes in the engine computer. Can you find someone to read the codes?
