Welcome!

A lot of people would say start with grid charging the battery pack. You can find lots of videos of how people have built these. Maybe it can be saved by balancing the 20 separate sticks in the IMA battery. Unfortunately it didn't work for me, but people get lucky here.

After that. IC has several venders to message here as well.

Cheers!

The mileage is pretty low among the current fleet. See if you can drive it and see how it downshifts into 2nd gear. Otherwise, use this buyer's guide:

if it needs battery replacement?
-replace it: The crowd favorite is BumbleBee Batteries, there's others, but they're probably your best shot.

-ignore it: if you just need a cheap car, you could put it into gas only mode, you'll still get decent gas mileage, and you'll have a constant CEL, but you need to do this if you plan on driving the car with a bad Battery. To over simplify it, the IMA system acts as the cars alternator, so if your hybrid battery is bad, the 12 volt battery will slowly drain and will die on you while driving unless you unplug a few wires.

You should also consider the costs beside the IMA battery, I can see that you're missing a headlight housing, who knows what else. Parts for this car aren't exactly hard to come by, but they're far from easy.

No that is my daily driver for now,1975 servivor.
Y'all going to need to get your eyes checked.

Car needs a right fender, headlight, the whole front core support, a radiator and possibly a front bumper.

And that's just the damage I can see. Hard to say what else is busted.

Where did you find a headlight for $60? Asking for a friend.... There are no new aftermarket ones, by the way. Used ones on ebay go for between $100-$180 usually.

I have not ordered one yet but it looks like a Dorman brand from amazon.

That would be for a gen2, there’s no reproductions I’ve ever seen for a g1, unless it’s a new thing. Parts for these cars are quite tricky sometimes considering they only ever brought 13,500 of them to the USA. 17,800 or so globally.
There are no 2007 Honda insights.

I saved my IMA battery with this product ...

Do you have the "broken" headlamp? I bought a 2000 MT salvage with no front bumper and no right headlamp, but the headlamp turned out to just be sitting in the under-hatch storage bin.

If you do in fact have the headlamp and the lens is intact, can repair it by JB Welding the bracket back on and it'll be good as new. See the four gray plastic pieces I circled? That's the brackets that have cracked off the headlamp in the impact, most likely sacrificing themselves but keeping the lens itself unscathed. Unbolt it each of these brackets, put them back in place on the headlamp and immobilize the whole assembly with woodworker's clamps, and JB Weld the crap out of it. Don't be stingy -- use lots of extra epoxy.

The aluminum bracket that sits below the "eye socket", with the flaps that bumper clips in to, can be straightened with time and patience. It doesn't have to be perfect, as the bumper and headlight will cover it when it's all together.

Did I read correctly that you have the broken-off piece of the fender? The material those are made of plastic welds just fine, so you can put it back together with a plastic welding iron and some plastic welding rod, and reinforce it from behind with the wire mesh that the plastic welding kits come with. Make sure you do a good reinforcement on that attachment point that's in the same spot as the lower left circle.

If this car has been sitting at all, you will almost definitely get an IMA light from the hybrid battery. If you disconnect and reconnect 12v battery and start the car, do you not get an IMA light yet, and you do get assist and charge lights, but at some point the IMA light and CEL trips again? Buy, build, or borrow a grid charger and charge the thing. If you get an IMA light even immediately after reconnecting the battery and starting the car, then a cheap OBDII scanner, and a simple jumper wire to read the blink codes are your friend before you spend any money refurbishing or replacing this thing. See OBDII CODES DTC SHEET for 2000-2006 HONDA INSIGHT (ZE1) - Google Drive as well as the "ima_swystem.pdf" (typo intended) from the documentation dump at Download 2000-2006 Insight Service Manual PDF and Others -- particularly page 12 which explains how to use the HDS and interpret the blink codes. (You don't need the special "HDS" tool -- a simple jumper wire as shown on the upper right of that spreadsheet I just linked will trigger the blink codes without the need for any extra tool.
