I replaced my aged 12v battery this weekend and opted for the Odyssey PC545 dry cell. The current battery was installed by the previous owner and weighs 25lbs. The PC545 weighs in at only 12lbs. I had to add 3 inches of support below the battery to raise it to the stock height and the reduced width allowed a nice place to carry some spare oil.

I've linked some pictures showing the difference.

I used a layer of cardboard around a hard foam block I found. I may change this to something more permanent but it appears to be holding up well. Also, it only weighs a few ounces. Others have used pieces of 2X4. You need to add roughly 3 inches and I would think you could use any material/substance that can support the weight of the battery and you feel confortable that it can survive the climate of the engine compartment.

Cool, thanks! My Honda battery is in great shape, but when I replace it in the future, I may go with an Odyssey. -Bryan
