I have a 2002 Insight with about 5,800 miles on the car. The car sat one year on the dealer's lot before i saw it and bought it. I know that the handbook recommends 7,500 miles before the first oil change. I looked at the oil and it looks dirty. If i wait till the 7,500 miles will it hurt the engine. I could just go in and get the 7,500 mile at 6,000 miles. Any advice will help.

I take it from the sound of your post you don't do your own oil changes. If you car is under warranty follow their advice. If not then you can change it anytime you want. If it sat for a long time change it because of the condensation in the oil. Oil will get dirty rather quickly so that isn't always an indicator of its usual life. Personally, I change my oil using the longer mileage schedule.
