Has anybody checked to see what other Insight owners located in foreign countries (Japan, Australia etc) are doing with the car? We have a great board with lots of knowledgeable people. Just curious, if Japanese Insight owners have found any thing on the car to change/improve.

I've searched Japan Ebay and found an Insight for sale.. Though I couldn't read anything about it.

Alot more Insights are sold in other places.

In case you didn't realise, my Insight is a Japanese import. There were only two differences with my Insight - firstly it has funky green footwell lights (apparently standard option in Japan) and secondly had a double DIN Sat Nav, TV, Tape & CD Honda stereo (set up for Japan and wouldn't work fully anywhere else - check my previous posts). My Insight still has the TV aerials in the quarterlight windows behind the seats.

I am reasonably certain that the Insight isn't sold in Australia and is only sold in the USA, Japan, UK & Germany. Perhaps France. We did have a Japanese forum member at one point. HTH.

Yes, I knew about your import. InsightCentral is mostly Americans, a few Canadians, and very few from the UK/Germany.

I was curious to find out if the Japanese have a version of insightcentral.net? I would love to read what that site would have posted.

The Insight is sold in australia: http://www.autoweb.com.au/A_53579/cms/newsarticle.html, I don't know how many. It was last year also visible on their homepage of Honda Australia. It was not sold in France.

Yes !
The Insight IS being sold Down Under
In Sydney(2000) I saw one at the dealer on the main drag into town.
I've never seen a Honda-dealership as big as that

And last year in Darwin at the dealer on the Stuart-Highway I saw an Insight with verry nice licence-plates ("INSIGHT"). I also, after a small chat with the salesman, grabbed an Australian brochure. :)

I hoped to see another Insight at the dealer in Alice Springs but there isn't a Honda dealer there anymore
In 1997 I managed to take some photos of the 1999 Opel Zafira (GM-Europe) there, that payed for my flight when I sold them to a magazine.

How many Insights sold in Australia (non-grey imports).

How many Insights sold in Australia (non-grey imports).

Exactly 45 MT from 2001 to 2004. The reason why sales where so low, was the hurendous new price of AUS$49,000 + ORC (on road costs). Funny that the CiViC Hybird now sells for AUS$31,999 + ORC.

Berlina Black - 2
Citrus Yellow - 7
Silverstone - 20
Formula Red - 16

About a month ago (June 2007), an Insight (Red with 40,000klm full books) was sold in Victoria, Australia for AUS$8,000; advertised on the carsguide and carsales websites, which is about right.

Some dealers are asking AUS$10k more, but they have been sitting in their yards for years, wake up guys! The Jazz (Fit) Hybrid is just around the corner.

Current Hybirds sold in Australia is only the Honda CiViC Hybrid and the Toyota Prius. Shame that he CiViC Hybrid here has drum rear brakes, while the Prius has discs.
