·PARTS FOR THE 'WINTER'
It seems that a great financial crisis is looming in the very near future. Such a crisis will be global in impact with many unforeseen consequences aside from the obvious ones. One unforeseen impact would be a breakdown in commercial trade and international commerce. I won't go into the details and consequences of such a scenario. A far more knowledgeable man than myself, Chris Laird, has already done so and you can read his essay, Subsistence Crisis, here: http://www.gold-eagle.com/editorials_04 ... 21104.html .
What has this to do with our Insights? Perhaps plenty!
If a crisis of such magnitude were to arise, we would find ourselves without the ability to obtain the service parts or materials we need for our vehicles, especially due to their uniqueness, low production volume and point of manufacture (Japan). These vehicles could be down and out for the most minor of service requirements. It might be wise to obtain a backup supply of parts. Now I'm not advocating getting every possible part for the car of course, but I do think it would be prudent to consider items like oil filters, break pads, rotors and drums, tires... things that are 'wear 'n tear' items that would be commonly required, but may be impossible to obtain for this particular vehicle.
Think about it.
BTW - money in itself can't solve such a problem. Even with money, you can't buy what doesn't exist.
