Fantastic! It appears that Honda are introducing the IMAS / Insight 2 according to the TopGear website. Can't wait! :D

Maybe I should stop looking for a 5 speed and just keep my cvt for another few years. With all this talk about accords getting 80+ mpg in europe and now a new Insight model, seems like it would be a waste to get one now when I don't especially need it.
Am I missing it or did they change the site already? All I see for Honda are the following:

Honda mini-MPV - Spring 2005
Honda Legend - Autumn 2005
Honda CR-V diesel - Mid-?05
Honda mini-MPV - Spring 2005
Honda Insight - Late 2005
I think that the suspicion was that since the Insight was being listed as a "new model" it was going to be a different one. However, I don't know if that's the case or not.
The suspence is killing me!
I must forget about this post.....
Email the site to find out what they mean by new model!
Replacement

Ever since the Insight I've always thought the only thing that could replace it is another color Insight, but with the prospect of a Honda Insight II, maybe there will be another option!

Let's hope it gets 30 mpg more and is 2x faster, 2x safer, and 2x lighter.

I've always wanted a car that I could carry into a shop with me. Soon it won't be an FJM just a JM.
Guys, when they say new model they mean new model. The TopGear website is quasi-BBC and their information should be accurate. However there are a couple of typos (they have put mini-MPV twice and missed the new NSX, which they had on the list previously). I cannot find anything else on the Web, so I think it would be good idea to e-mail and doublecheck with the website.

I want to be the first person in Britain to get the Insight 2! :)
Perhaps we should send a letter to Honda asking them to use the same procedure that Toyota did. (Toyota offered the new Prius to existing Prius customers before anyone else). Have fun, RIck
Sign me up for that!
Already got the money set aside..............If it's a turbo

Hey! I just got mine.

My wife already says a have a serious car problem. If I do that, she would kill me.

I have bought 6 cars in the last 4 years. I don't think that's bad. Is it? Is it? (twitch, twitch)...
My wife will probably end my life with the quickness, but if Honda offers me the chance to trade my Insight in for a new one, well, so much for getting excited about my current Insight being almost paid off! Especially if it has the performance specs of the IMAS (I believe it was talked about as only weighing about 1,500 pounds, and was projected to be able to achieve 94mpg, according to Autoweek magazine). Hmm, maybe I'll hit the lottery and be able to keep both my '00 Insight as well as a new '05 if they come out!

Yes, it is not bad, let us shake hands:2000 Honda Accord, 2001 traded that Accord back for my old Civic (was still for sale), to stop abusing that Civic I had:Opel Corsa in 2002, traded it in for a Civic Shuttle in 2003, traded that car in for a CRX II to restore it, but found out that it was to bad, so I sold that one and bought a almost perfect CRX from a bank manager for cheap !! But yes......my toughts were still by the Insight so I bought that one !!! Total score: 7 in 4 years!!!
And now what ? I am gonna sell that CRX again and my old Civic from '74 (mint condition) so I will have left my Insight and my '94 Civic coupe. So Holicow the answer to your question: is it bad ? No: it is that you have made up your mind, cleared that car thunder-storm "Insight" your head

Well since you asked...

More MPG!

2x safer, maybe.

2x lighter, much more than that!

2x faster? Hruumph! You gotta have everything don't you! <VBG>

And yup, at least one did/does exist.

Ha Ha! Suitcase car!

That's probably a little further than I'm willing to go...

Anyone come up with any supporting evidence for a next-generation Insight/IMAS? I haven't been able to, yet.
That suit case car isn't too far fetched. If they can come up with some kind of folding carbon fiber fabric stuff, then you can pop open the full sized body. The big problem I suppose will always be making it withstand getting run down by a big regular car!
Well, if you want a full sized body, you could just make the whole thing inflatable, and have only the mechanicals be solid. However, a more practical method would probrably be to drive a scooter, which is not much larger. If you could "separate" a small one into two halves, you might (big "might") be able to get it small enough to fit into two bags small enough to stow under the plane.
Suitcase car? Was this on a Bond movie?

If they made such an offer, it would surely be tempting though with all of the recalls including the one I am having done today I almost have a 2004!
