I tried to do a search on this but probably didn't use the correct search terms. I hope this isn't a repeat topic.
This morning, traffic was moving much faster than I wanted to go (even in the slow lane) so I was forced to try and keep from being rear ended. This required that I use assist more often than normal while going up hills. I wasn't too concerned, as I figured I could recharge on the way back down.
When I reached the top of a particularly long hill, I noticed the battery meter at about half. I started coasting down, and noted the green 'charge' meter increasing. However, my battery was still depleting itself. It went all the way down to two bars - even though the meter showed I was definitely green (charging)!
When I reached the bottom of the hill and leveled out, I was able to drive normally, which means I keep the FCD usually between 75 and 100 and (obviously) no assist. Even with my foot lightly pushed on the gas pedal, I had three or four bars of green charge showing for the next 20 minutes.
By the time I reached my workplace and parked, the battery meter was one or two bars shy of being full.
This has never happened to me. Granted, I've only had the car for less than three weeks, but I just have to ask: Is this normal?
