When I got my car, I immediately replaced the broken rear mount, but lately I've been looking at the deteriorating side mounts. They're not broken yet, but there are a lot of surface cracks, and I expect it's only a matter of time. I'd like to ask, is it possible to delay replacement with a repair of sorts?

I've read about people filling in their motor mounts with RTV silicone, and I was under the impression that it's a really, really bad idea to do on a G1 Insight's rear mount due to it being a 3-cylinder (which is why I replaced that one), but what about the side mounts? Or, if filling them is still unreasonable, how about filling in the cracks?
