Hello! Due to a cross country trip I'm planning for this winter, I'm getting all the little things done I've been meaning to get done for awhile now.
When I first bought my Gen1 CVT and had it inspected, the mechanic said, specifically, that my REAR engine mount was cracked and should be replaced; not dire, but I would likely feel some vibrations in idle.
Now that I'm going to replace it I decided to get under the car before actually ordering the parts. Took a look at the rear mount, and...

I'm no mechanical genius, but it looks fine to me. I suppose either I misheard him or incorrectly assumed the underside mount is the 'rear' mount.
The passenger side mount, on the other hand...

...doesn't seem too happy.
Looking at the passenger mount's surroundings troubles me, though.

...How easy is this to replace yourself? It doesn't look like there's much room to finagle the bolts/ pull the mount/bracket out. Is it easier than it seems or should I have it done by a pro? I'm already heading to Scott sometime (hopefully) soon to install a new IMA battery; gotta get that done and pass emissions before the 8th.
I'll ask him what he thinks, at the very least. I'll likely end up going back sometime after having parts in hand.
I also took a look at the driver's side mount.

In person it looked alright, but after looking at that first photo I headed back out and checked again. There are cracks on the flat rubbery bit next to the bracket, but the circular rubbery bit looks alright, I think, if not just a little dusty.
Lastly, as the title suggests, after getting over the jitters I get before getting under a car for the first time in awhile (I have an aversion to dying prematurely), jack-stands/wood blocks or no, the first thing I noticed was this rubbery ring... thing, able to move freely along the passenger side drive shaft/axle.

S3Y-003 seems to be a typical part prefix for G1 part numbers. What the heck is it? Why is it able to move freely along the length of the shaft, and more importantly, is it SUPPOSED to?
Thanks in advance for reading along and for any help/advice!
