I recently asked ACC (Auto Custom Carpets) about replacement carpet for the G1 and was told that they need around 200 firm orders for production to be viable. I think it is definitely something worth pushing for, like maybe we could open a kickstarter or something, but I want to make sure there's actually interest before getting too carried away. Personally I'd definitely buy replacement carpet if it were available but maybe I'm the only one.

So what do you guys think? Would you replace the carpet in your insight if replacement carpet were available and what would you expect to pay for it? Keep in mind that ACC offers loads of colors and material options in addition to the factory gray cut pile so this would offer the opportunity to do more than just get rid of unsightly holes . If you want a quieter ride, for example, they have their mass-backed flooring. Or they have their heavy-duty vinyl if you don't want to add any weight but still want something that looks nice.

I would be potentially interested, but only up to about $150. Anything over that, and I'll just continue to live with my heavy rubber floor mat covering up the small hole in it from the heel of some PO heal, one that was too dumb to use floor mats.

In case there isn't enough people to meet the quota, just wondering
if a laser cut template of the carpet lay out could be made. If so, then
owners could purchase the carpet wherever they want, in the color they
want, and cut out where needed.

Nope, I'd just pull some out of a junked insight if it came to that.

Thanks for doing the legwork on this. I looked up the site and they have carpet for one of my project cars, if I ever get around to fixing it. I did the $15 Home Depot industrial entry mat fix on my $100 Insight, but it sounds like you have some interest. If you are in it for the long haul, and get some prices, maybe you can start a new group buy thread in For Sale with pictures and options, and after a few months or a year or two enough people will find the thread and put their name on the list.
If you had two columns, "firm" and "tentative" then you are at least collecting names, and can periodically sample the tentatives privately to see if you have enough to pull the trigger.

In my own experience even with a 320,000 miles car the carpet itself doesn't get that bad if mats are used.
So I would likely not be interested. There are also a few junkyard cars to pull them out of.

If we are talking proper decent mat sets (as OEM as possible) then I might be interested..

There are already OEM quality mats available, but no embroidered logo.
