Hey all. I have a cracked rim and am likely going to buy another factory alloy rim to replace it with, but I have a question about the TPMS sensor. Do I need to buy a new one for the replacement rim or can the one I have be used with the new rim?

I'm not really all that well-versed in these sorts of things, so any help you guys can offer would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The individual TPS monitors have to be programmed to the vehicle. So it will save you having to do that if you reuse the existing one. Having to have them programmed is a real PITA for folks who change to snow tires every year. If you are having your existing tire mounted to the new rim, most tire stores can now program the TPS sensors. I’m not sure how much they charge. Our 2010 is still using the original sensors, now on it’s third set of tires.
