I'm thinking of buying a salvaged insight (due to theft)

I have a few questions:

1) Will Honda uphold the 8 year warranty on the battery on a salvaged insight?

2) Would buying used still qualify me for any tax deductions?

3) Would there be any problems getting the HOV pass if it were a salvaged car?

My first post on this board =)

Here's a couple more:

4) I live in Cali, are insights supposed get smogged?

5) Will the DMV wave sales tax when purchasing used insights?

Greetings,
You won't get any warranties from Any manufacture on a salvage title. You will have to smog it. Yes you can still get it HOV access (hurry on that as they are capping it at 75000 stickers) No tax credit as its not new.

Hey! A kindred spirit! I bought a salvaged title Insight about 3 months ago. (Due to accident! :x I know, I know, but it was cheap.)
I have a FEW answers.
4) In CA, when I registered it at DMV, they used "Q" code under the MP box on the registration. This means you don't need to be smogged.
5) No, you have to pay sales tax based upon the stated price you paid for the vehicle.

I have a question: 3)what's an HOV pass?

OK High Occupancy Vehicle, I looked it up. I live in the sticks and don't really need it.

OMG, what number are they up to now? The HOV pass is my main motivation for getting this thing.

Salvage title DUE TO THEFT.

I assume it may have been stripped?

What parts are missing, where is it?

Supposedly just the radio was missing, but it stikes me as kind of shady situation. It was declared a total loss after being "left in the desert" for two months (w/o a radio). Its in SD right now.

But anyway, I don't think I'll be going through with the transaction after I confirmed with the dealership that there is absolutly no warranty on a salvaged vehicle. Plus my credit union would only offer to finance half of the trade-in value of salvaged titled vehicles. (which is about $3000).

I figure I should spend the extra 1000-1500 to get a clean insight w/ a warranty anyway.
