As anyone upgraded their seats. I plan on upgrading and wonder what would fit.

you'd probably be better off having stock seats refoamed and leather put on them.

See if anybody in your location works on motorcycle seat. Those guys can work some foam.

The motorcycle seat idea is a good one.

I noticed "APC F-1 Racing Seats" on the web, and wondered if anyone had thought of them:

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/APC124101

They are sold all over the place, for about $170. They weigh about 35 pounds (no idea what the stock seats weigh). I haven't measured to see if they would fit easily on the stock rails.

Has anyone tried them as a better-looking, better-fitting replacement to worn seats than a seat cover?

Thanks,
MF

Those are nice-looking seats. I would guess our Insight seats weigh less, though.

They probably have a mounting bracket that will allow you to adjust the width and length of the mounting points, but it would be nice to see exactly what it looks like.

Perhaps I will ask them...

Along the same line.... I was wondering if the two seats are interchangeable. The levers are on the inside and I am really used to them on the outside.

Also when you put them forward to put something in the back, they don't go very far. I will be interested in knowing how yours fit, if you put different ones in. :)

I may install a pair of Tommotorsports Torino seats or Tenzo Type- R Evolution.
Main concern is seat height.

Here's the reply I got about the seats and the "universal sliders":

Greetings from SoundDomain.com -

Thanks for writing to us with your question. The universal mounting
brackets don't seem to work well for many vehicles. It is basically a
slider with 4 feet on it to mount, but they don't match up with many
vehicles and they are not adjustable. Typically, with APC seats, customers
end up having their factory seat bases removed at a machine shop and
welded directly to the racing seats. Let us know if you have any other
questions and thank you for your interest in SoundDomain.com.
I guess you can measure the OEM seat brackets and see if they are close or may fit. Otherwise, it might take the process described above. Glad they are honest....

It's common for seat brackets to be custom made to fit seats into cars.

As anyone ever heard of this: Schukra portable backrest,
I think this is much better than the Obus Forme

http://www.schukra.com/prd_portable.html

Perhaps this can be intergrated into the insight's seat???
