While I was at the dealer getting a new gas cap, I asked about the Insight keys. Seems if you lose your key and you don't have a spare, the car needs to be towed to a dealer and then they want $120 for a new key. Yikes! All this has to do with the identity chip in the key.

Since I couldn't find my spare key, after a recent move, I decided to buy a new spare. $20 and just a few minutes. Seems like cheap insurance.

Dunno about the earlier poster, but I paid $25 at
a Honda dealer (and big parts place...) in NJ.

I forget the name, but it's in Paramus at the
intersection of NJ Routes 17 and 4, about ten
miles west of the G. W. Bridge from NYC.

Note that I was quoted a _lot_ more by
a dealer in NYC...

If you have a working key the dealership can clone your working one for about $20. If you only have one key it's a real good idea to get another one. The other thing I did was take the key to a general locksmith shop and had a chipless blank cut which fits in my wallet nicely since it's much thinner than the chipped key. That way I could get in to the car if I accidentally locked the keys in it (or if the auto door locks did it for me).
