Hey, I just got a 2003 silver Insight a couple days ago and I'm absolutely loving it, the only problem is that the 20 year old speakers are well past their prime lol. I'm very into music so this is a bit of an issue for me. I looked on the stickied modifications post and saw the posts about audio in the car, but a lot of the speakers mentioned on there have been discontinued by now. I'm looking to also add rear speakers as well, so I was wondering if you guys on here had any suggestions for a set of 4 speakers (or two speakers and two subs ?) for under $170. I'm not looking to upgrade the amp however, that would be a bit too costly. Thank you!

Oh I may as well add, I live in the snowy and awful and humid midwest and was wondering if any of you have ideas for "winter wheels" that I could swap on for half the year, preferably something a bit bigger that would handle better in snow and rain.

Look on Craigslist and eBay for vintage Eclipse 8263 speakers. Four of those are great. You have to break out some of the bracing inside the stock insight covers to accommodate the central tweeter if you want to use them - not difficult but worth it.I recommend Green Day "American Idiot" as a test CD.

JBL CLUB6520 6.5" 300W Club Series 2-Way Coaxial Car Speaker (1 Pair) https://a.co/d/25YRkrR
I got these for my car and they sound pretty decent.

Had to mark and drill a few new holes for the 4 screw mount/ get longer screws

Looking back I wish I installed 2 subs and a amp because the 12v is already back there.

Hope this helps

Polk DB652. They sound pretty good and you don't have to hack up your door card to get them to fit.

If you buy them from Crutchfield, they come with the Metra adaptors for no extra charge. Then you don't have to butcher you wiring harness to plug them in.
sorry I'm late replying, but I installed these with my father a couple weeks ago and I'm loving them! This was a great suggestion. I will say that screwing these into the door panels can get kinda crazy because they only just fit. These sound great, I'm just getting used to the speakers being low instead of up high like the SUVs I'm used to.

Good to hear JBL is also recommended here. My friend is looking to get them for his new Insight project. He'll start modding the interior after we finish installing the new suspension from 4Wheelonline onto his Wrangler.
