Hello,

I want to order a set of Kosei K1 TS rims for summer and need the correct offset.

I just tried to order them from Tire Rack but the guy on the phone would not sell me a set of them with tires since the Insight is not in their system. The only way to order the tires from them is by size since the Insight doesn’t seam to exist in their eyes. I cannot believe how fast he blew off a $700+ order!

I can cheat and order them online for a Honda Civic in a 14” then select the tires by size to have them mounted and delivered but am worried that the offset will be, well… off.

For those who have these rims, where did you order them from?

Thanks in advance!!

The OEM whell is a 14"X5.5" with a +45mm offset, bolt pattern is a 4X100mm. The Kosei's I think come in a 14"X6", which should work with the 165/65R14 Potenza's... barely.

I have a set of 15 Kosei's on my Saturn electric conversion. This was in their system and the package included the wheels, center caps, valve stems (didn't use them because they were red), and a plastic ring to go in the middle of the wheels so they fit properly over the hub. They also included lug nuts, which were all key'd so no one can steal your wheels very easily.

I have a set of 14"x6" Kosei K1 TS that I used with race compound tires on my Insight for autoslalom and track lapping.
The offset of these rims is +38 mm and it fits perfectly even with 195/55R14 tires. I recommend getting the spacers that fit into the rim to make it hub centric (same as civic).

Guillermo, Sure add to the stress with the Hubcentric adapters. :( LOL

OK where do I order the Hub Centric spacers and how much will they throw off the offset?

Rick, Where did you order yours and get all the extras?

The Insight has the exact same center bore diameter as a 92 to 99 civic (It should be the same for older and newer civics but i'm just positive on that range of civics.) This plastic "center ring" does not affect the offset at all. It fits tightly in the center bore of the rim, reducing this hole so it fits snug with the center bore of the axle. Just order you wheels from tire rack assuming you have a 93 civic and ask for "centering rings".
You will also need "tuner" lug nuts because the chamfer of the holes in the wheels are flat instead of curved in the OEM wheels.
The rims should come with lug nuts included when ordered from Tire Rack.
These lug nuts require a 17 mm socket instead of the 19 mm socket used for the OEM lug nuts. Because these light weight rims don't have enough room around the holes to fit a 19 mm socket.
When you order from Tire Rack it should include all these things just like it did when Rick ordered his.

Yep, it's all part of the package at no extra charge. I wasn't expecting this and was happily suprised at everything that came with the wheels. I just took the wheels to discount tire and had them put the tires that were on the current wheels on the new wheels, balance and I was on my way.

The only thing that was wierd was 2 of the wheels only came with one valve stem each, the other two had two a piece like they were supposed to (the wheels have two valve stems per wheel in case anyone is woundering). I didn't much like the included red valve stems though so I just had discount tire put their chrome ones on.

I love the Kosei aluminum valve stems.
They are solid. It's much easier to connect a pump or tire gauge to them without getting a bit of air leak out in the proccess.

Perhaps, but the car they were going on is lime green (just a couple shades off of citrus yellow) so I figured the magenta-redish valve stems might have been a bit much anyways. Reguardless, they shorted me 2 valve stems, which I'm sure I could have gotten, but I had the wheels and was excited about it so I wanted them on the car that day! :p

Please post some pics when you have them mounted. I am looking at these versus the Volks. I was thinking that if I did 38mm offset on the fronts and 28mm offset on the rears that would even out the wheel track a bit. I know they make the Kosei in both offsets but I can't seem to find the 28mm offset wheels in the US. Still very interested to see them on the car. I too have a Citrus model and was leaning toward the dark grey.

Arrived Friday. Probably won't get them mounted until next weekend at soonest, so this will have to do for now:

The hub centric ring is visible. It is plastic, and cannot be used at the same time as the (ugly) center caps

That is a nice looking wheel. Looking forward to seeing them on the car. Thanks for posting that. Wonder how the hub centric ring will look on the car? I was thinking of getting some hub centric spacers and there is a company that does custom fittings. So, you can pick the ID and OD of the wheel and also the spacing. I was thinking an additional 8mm on the front and 15mm on the rears might be pretty close.
