I noticed the coolant temperature was a bit low at times. From a cold start, the radiator gets pretty warm with a coolant temp of only 130°F. So I'm pretty sure I need to replace the thermostat. The NTC/Tama (made in Japan) thermostat is cheaper than the OEM, so that's tempting. Does anybody know if the aftermarket NTC/Tama is the same as the OEM part? From what I've observed, Japanese engines all seem to have NTC thermostats. Honda says the thermostat is specific to the Insight, aftermarket versions fit a lot of other Hondas. I don't mind buying the OEM part if it's better, but I also don't want to pay 50% more if it's the same part in "Honda" packaging.

OK, I kinda found the answer myself. The Tama I was looking at isn't the right part for the Insight. I might just get the Honda-boxed part for about $29.

The Insight thermostat is:
19301-PHM-305 (Honda)
WV52HNA-88 (Tama/NTC)
