Anyone here top out the speed on the Insight? More specifically the CVT model.

Couple of days ago coming back from after 17 hours of work, decided for the first time to take the car as fast as it'd go. To my surprise, the car seemed to 'only' top out at around 103-105. I thought the Insight was supposed to top out at around 112 (maybe only for 5spd models?)? Interestingly enough once around 103MPH, the IMA electric assist seems to cut out. But the ICE has no problem maintaining the 103-105 speed @ around 5.3K RPMs.

Did this three times, twice going south on I-880S near the San Jose Airport and once on I-280N around Winchester Blvd/Saratoga.

BTW, if anyone wants to know, I was getting around 25MPG @ 103-105. :) Tires inflated to around 42 PSI all around.

5 speed will go 113, CVT will not go as fast. 103 sounds right for top speed. I tried is in 3rd and 5th on mine, there is a speed limiter at 113 (which is rev limiter in 3rd, and speed rating on the tires so it makes sense). IMA cut out around 100 as well with me. The time I did it in 5th gear I was going down a pretty steep hill as well and it deffinitely would not let me accelerate past 113.

Everytime I have taken I-880S in San Jose, I run into traffic just North of Brokaw and would be lucky to be able to do 5 MPH!
