Top Speed of the Insight

I'm a bit of a speed freak, and well, since most of the chatter about the Insight is usually centered around either its gas mileage, its environmental friendliness, etc., no one ever seems to mention much about how much performance the car can offer to those willing to see their mpg suffer a little. Well, I'm going to broach the question.

So, what's the fastest you've had your Insight up to?

I've once seen 107mph on my speedo, and I was grinning from ear to ear!

I'd be interesting if anyone has tried to see what they could top out at. Maybe I'm the only one, but I'd expect not.

Cheers,
Marc

113 mph, on 2002 they added a speed limiter. There wasn't one on the 2000 and 2001 models. I had mine going 113 on a flat, redlined in 3rd gear, hit 4th just to see and got nothing, it cut back in around 110. Ok so now I wanted to know whether it was a speed limiter or not. Well, I found a nice steep hill, left it in 5th and it got to 113 and said no more... Now I know someone's gonna say no way my car doesn't have a speed limiter. Well, if you got the new ecu go ahead try going faster than 113.

I think the car has at least 120 in it, way faster than anyone should ever need to go

I was amazed at how fast the car actually got up there too. Now it's not a Corvette by any means (had one of them going 140 once) but when you get up past 80, 90 ish in 3rd gear it gains about 2mph a second. And when it hits the speed limiter it actually just lightly stays there, it's not a major slow down. Attempt at your own risk.
Over 100 it feels scarry yet suprisingly stable and it still handles suprisingly well. I passed a SUV at about 100 on my slow down. I kind of wish I had been going a bit slower so I could have seen the look on their face(s).
