I have one quick tip to add . . .
after buying a used insight I had to move it a long ways (FL-WV) behind a 7mpg u-haul truck. I considered using a car dolly but decided instead on the u-haul "car carrier" which was new-ish and kind of trick execpt that the insight didn't fit on there properly with the low front airdam.
My solution was to remove the skirts and put the car on backwards which allowed me to properly ratchet the tires using the trailer's ratchet system.
