I own a 2000 insight with just under 150k. I recently began to hear a ratcheting swooshing noise in my transmission. I got under the car and found that there was quite a bit of play where the axles connect into the transaxle - telling me that maybe my differential bearings had gone bad. But the "dealership" service department is saying that in a hybrid transmission this "looseness" is within specs, and that I need a new transmission. Can anyone tell me if what the service department is saying is true? I can only say that the connection points are much looser than on a standard non-hybrid front wheel drive.
