I was driving home in my 2001 CVT with a working IMA system yesterday. About halfway home, 40 miles driven, the AC stopped blowing cold air; in response to this, I switched the HVAC controls to eco fan only. Towards the end of the drive, I noticed the check engine lite on and the drive indicator light flashing. At the next stop light, the car died. I was able to restart and move it over onto the shoulder.
I used the tutorial to get the blink codes and pulled 45, 06, and 70. My initial thought was that a bad AC compressor might have caused belt issues and an overheat; once I removed the belt, the compressor seemed to spin without much resistance. Finally, there is a bit of oil on the rear of the passenger side of the engine.
Any ideas?
