The LRR has returned safe and sounds from the NORCAL meet. 1,206.4 miles and FCD says 66.4 MPG.
Will top off the gas tank in the AM and report back with all the details.
Odometer now reads 450,584 miles.

I am BEAT............................ See you tomorrow. I had a tremendous good time.
Good catch Sam. Didn't have enough energy for the comma, or period. Sorry. Owe you one!

I'm on edit now. Here is the results for the trip.

Trip There;
FCD showed 65.2 MPG, actual was 61.6 MPG.
Trip Back:
FCD showed 66.9 MPG, actual was 66.0 MPG. (Actual is after filling up both times.)

The trip there was with the flow of traffic. mostly 70-80 MPH in the caravan. I-5 over the Grapevine also. (Everybody stayed close together mostly)
The trip back was down CA state 101, then I-10 E, then I-15 S, then I-8 E to home. At a slower pace slightly till I got to the mountain grade.
Coming back I really really concentrated on staying in LEAN BURN most of the way. Speed was in the 60-70 MPH range.

No problems encountered except the rain, south of LA to SD in spots.
ENJOY.

At 454,353 miles a new oil filter and oil was installed on the LRR.. This is the 59th oil and filter change on the LITTLE RED ROCKET.. When changing the filter i realized that the filter, M1-110A has a design change. It now has 7 oil intake holes instead of 6. I bought it yesterday. That is the same model number I have been using for years.
I installed the usual 3 quarts of Mobil 1 0-20 synth. oil and now good for another 7,500 miles. After doing the oil change, I found another Mobil 1 filter in my stock of filters. It has the same model number, and it has 13 square holes on the intake side of the filter. It has been on my shelf for a very long time. I use the same Mobil 1 filters on both my Insight and my Fit Sport.
After a warm up and then cool down the oil level is exactly at the max. level line, which is normal.

The only thing different was when i started the LRR after the oil change, the low oil light seemed to go out instantly, rather than around a 1.5 sec. delay.
I will be sore in the AM, after crawling around on the garage floor under the LRR. Only bumped my head once, getting out from under the LRR, so that is an improvement.
(Maybe I'm getting to old to gauge time?)

Today, with 456,725 miles showing on the LRR's odometer, a sparkplug replacement was done. I checked my Maintenance log and the plugs have 132,540 miles of use.

On inspecting the plugs after removal, the porcelain portion of the plugs was a nice light brown colored. No HOTSPOTS seen. The Iridium point was not worn. The ground electrode showed a little wear on the corners and the spark "gap" had increased to .051, .052, and .051. on the three plugs. The .052 was for plug number 2. The standard "gap" setting when the plugs were installed was .044.

The plugs are Autolite XP-5325. The cost of the plugs was $20.97. NGK would be LFR5AIX-11, or #4469.
The LRR is now good for another 100K.

I'll be running the same spark plugs as you are on my turbo Insight. Might as well go with what works. I'm assuming you have had no issues with the .44 plug gap? I just recently had to close my Volvo down to 0.24, from 0.30, as I was getting spark blowout under the more heavy loads. Then again I am running 26lbs of boost vs the 7(6?)lbs you are running.

Good theory on the "gap" reasoning. It might also be the difference in the ignition systems.
No issues on the original gap.

Here are the old plugs with a gap of .050+, and nice brown coloring on the ceramic after 132,540 miles.

Interesting day today.
While coming home from town had a big time blow out on the left front just as i was shifting from 4th to 5th around 80 MPH, for the climb "up the mountain". Car shook like a freight train at first but was real stable as I slowed down to get to the side of the freeway.
The tire was about three years old, and had 44,100 miles on it.
Poop does happen.

Was there valve stem seat corrosion? My rim had to have that area cleaned up since it would cause a leak. Doesn't look like there's something specific that caused it. Could it have gone low?

Damage to the LRR's right rear bumper section, done by an unknown subject in a Walmart parking lot, on 5/8 around 10-10:30AM. It was still like that on 5/10 @ 3PM.

Pic of Damage on 5/10 @ 5PM after sitting in the sun area for 4 hours and doing a high speed run home lasting 45 minutes. I never touched it and had to cancel the appointment with Scott for repairs. Ain't science wonderful?
