Hi All,
Here's a recent message I had received from Craig who is one of the people who run the annual Tour de Sol. Looks like it will be interesting.
He also drives an Insight. Jack

The Business Beat

Well, to listen live, click on the "listen online" button near the top left of the home page. You'll hear whatevers being broadcast in real time.

To access the archive, look just below that to the box titled "listener guide", click on "more". Top right in the window that appears you'll see "archive", click on that. "This new car" is supposed to be broadcast under "The Business Beat" which is hosting it.

I think there's a lag time between the live show and when it's acessible thru the archive. If so, I'll see if I can find out how long. Sent an email to Craig, let's see what he comes back with.

When it does appear in the archive just click on "listen" and wait a little bit till the mp3 player appears and click on "play". If you need an mp3 player there's free ones you can download there over on the right under the "archive" button area. Hope this helps, Jack

PS They also have "pod" broadcasts that can be subscibed to, but that's separate from the archives.

This New Car

Here's a response I received from Steve, host of the show, thru Craig...

Hi Jack,

WICN will post, for example, the MP3-format audio of all of January's "This New Car" shows on its website
http://www.WICN.org/programs/archive.htm sometime during the first week of February, where they'll stay throughout February. The same will be done in subsequent months.

However, I'm also posting the MP3 audio of each show on my own "This New Car" website the day after it is broadcast and webcast on WICN. But because I'm recording the shows straight off the WICN website as they're being webcast Sunday nights, the audio quality isn't quite as good (it's not that bad, either) as what WICN will post on its own website come February. The address for my "This New Car" website is
http://www.BestRateOfClimb.com/TNC.htm .

Meanwhile, WICN has created pages on its website that contain bio sketches of the "This New Car"'s three experts
http://www.WICN.org/programs/thisnewcar.htmas well as a "This New Car" glossary of terms http://www.WICN.org/programs/glossary.htm .

Each Thursday, I e-mail a notice to the news media as well as to interested parties regarding the topic for that Sunday's "This New Car" show. It includes a link to a 4-minute, MP3 audio segment of the show. If you'd like me to add you to the e-mail list, please let me know.

Please call me if you have any questions.

Best wishes,

Steve D'Agostino

OK, it works, I'm listening to it now while I'm typing, Jack

Response

Hi All,
Here's a change that was made at WICN for "This New Car". Good news all around, this is a great show :D ! Enjoy, Jack

Hi Jack,

Thanks for the posting and your good review of the show.

WICN has agreed to post the show on the day after (Monday) it is broadcast and webcast (Sunday). Also, the audio will be of much higher quality than that which I posted on my own website this past Monday. In addition, WICN will leave the audio on the page longer than the one month that show audio is usually posted on their site.

I'll send you the WICN link address once I see which page they post the audio on.

Best wishes,

Steve

Hi Steve,
Posted your information at the InsightCentral.net forum, under General Discussion, Hybrid Radio Broadcast. They have allot of active members, you should have quite an audience. I listened to the first one. Very informative, enlightening and entertaining. You have an outstanding show. Most, or all, of Insight Central will be listening to all your shows. Thank you, Jack Lee

Wisconsin Public Radio

More Good News,
Hope you all are enjoying the ongoing radio shows hosted by Steve D'Aostino for "This New Car". They are OUTSTANDING. As listed above they can be heard online or thru archives. http://www.bestrateofclimb.com/TNC.htm After you clink on the date of the show you want to listen to, go have a cup of coffee. Takes a few minutes for it to come up, servers may be getting hammered by allot of listeners. Then click on play.

Another show will be happening real soon on Wisconsin Public Radio, hosted by Larry Meiller. Guest will be Hybrid Guru Chris Schneider.
http://www.wpr.org/ You can listen online or click on "Our Audio Archives" over on the right, then click on "Larry Meiller". See you there!
Some interesting shows I had found in Larry's archive on related topics:
01-11-06 Cleaner Energy
11-23-05 Corn to Ethanol Products
08-10-05 Renewable Energies
07-27-05 Hybrid Vehicle Status
02-01-05 Chris Schneider & John Dolan on Hybrid Vehicles

Let me know if there are any difficulties with listening in, Jack

Hybrid Guru to Appear on WPR

Hybrid Guru Chris Schneider will once again be a guest on Larry Meiller's Wisconsin Public Radio program to enlighten listeners on the benefits of hybrid vehicles. Schneider will appear from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Thursday, January 26.

Schneider, the president of Honda Motorwerks, is an expert on hybrid vehicles. Schneider has a degree in engineering from Notre Dame and has been advocating for them even before their introduction in 1999. Honda Motorwerks has sold more pre-owned hybrids than any other car dealership in the country.

If you have questions about hybrids, you can place toll-free calls during the show at (800) 642-1234, or feel free to call Schneider at 608-784-6433.

Update

Hi All,
Update to the ongoing broadcasts. Wisconsin Public Radio's broadcast of hybrid vehicles, variable tax credits, etc, for hybrid vehicles is especially interesting.

"This New Car", ongoing broadcast on various hybrid issues, is now on hydrogen and alternitive fuel cell vehicles. Extremely interesting as well. Enjoy, Jack

Tax Credits for Hybrid Vehicles

Hi All,
Larry Miller's show on tax credits for hybrid vehicles is a must "listen to" for those considering buying a new hybrid vehicle. Some of them have a sizable tax credit, hefty...

Steve D'Aostino's ongoing "This New Car" shows are especially interesting as well. Want a real kick in the pants? Try the recent show on "Detroit: Can The Motor City Be Hybrid-ized". These series of shows can provide you with plenty of knowledge, "ammo", for discussing hybrids with those who are hybrid ignorant or otherwise...
