Hi all:

Long time Gen1 driver, first time Gen2 poster. My "old reliable" Gen1 road car's CVT finally shot craps at 252,000, and I've got to get a reliable replacement. I need more room, so I want to buy a Gen2 car.

I'm looking at 2 cars that aren't too far away:

2010 Insight EX 91,428 miles $6,300.
2 owners, has been wrecked
Passenger seat has a cigarette burn in middle of bottom panel of seat
A couple of small dings on lower part of driver door (not bad, dime size)
When driving, IMA gauge stays on "CHRG", doesn't move to "ASST", even
when I really put my foot in it.
AND I ran an AutoCheck report on it...everything is good EXCEPT it shows
"Rear impact with another vehicle" on 12/30/11, AND at the
2/5/13 auction it was sold "announced as frame damage".

2011 Insight EX $7,400
2 owners, certified by AutoCheck as clean (94%)
Excellent interior and exterior, "CHRG" and "ASST" act like I think they
should. Not wild about the color (dark red), but I can live with it.

I think I answered my own question....

I just picked up a 2010 with 72k miles for $5700 to give you an idea. Runs great, body has some scratches and dings, but it's a commuter car and doesn't need to look perfect. Good luck in your search.

Well....in the interest of NOT having a car loan to worry about, I have made the decision to fix "old reliable". Gently used (77K mile) CVT is headed my way next week for a transplant.

Maybe a Gen2 is in the cards the first of '18....
