I have a 2011 Honda Insight. In the last month or so I've noticed that when the car is in drive or reverse and I accelerate, there is a louder than normal whining noise. Once I am at high speeds the noise goes away but it is very noticeable at lower speeds. The car does not make the noise in park. It's got about 106k miles on it. Any ideas what this could be?

How many CVT fluid changes have you had? When was the last one? Around here we recommend every other oil change or every 18-20k miles. The code will only come up on the MID every third or forth oil change.

I've had the car since 86k miles, so for about 20k miles and I have never changed the CVT if it is not included in regular oil changes. I've changed the oil multiple times because I drive minimum 100 miles/day, but to be honest I've never heard of a CVT fluid change.

I do have the whining sound also, when accelerating when cold.
I never heard it before but it started right after the 120.000 km service: the big one with spark plugs and all...
CVT oil looks pinkish red like it should be.

I'll tell my dealer as I have an appointment there soon.
