I have been averaging around 50 MPG since breaking in my 2010 Insight EX, but a recent fill-up resulted in 52.7 MPG. Then I filled up this past Saturday and achieved 53.6 MPG, best ever! MID was reporting 57.5 MPG, so the 4 MPG discrepancy seems about the norm. I drive a mixture of city and highway, but rarely exceed 60 MPH as the highways I drive aren't freeways or tollways. Not a hypermiler, but I do pay attention to the way I drive..slow and steady starts, easing off the gas far in advance of red lights, etc. The MID is currently showing over 58 MPG, so maybe better things are to come! I'm happier than a weasel in pajamas.

Congratulations! :)

I'm getting quite close to 50mpg (US)/60mpg (UK), but I don't think I'll make it on this tankful - maybe on the next?

I've not yet worked out the MID fuel consumption error (my i2 has only done about 600 miles from new) but it seems that lots of people here report that it's up to 3 or 4mpg optimistic like yours, so I won't be too surprised if mine turns out that way as well.

People also seem to be saying that I'll do better when the engine is run in and has had an oil change at about 10k or 15k miles: I'm looking forward to that.

Anyway, well done and keep up the good work!
