Hi,

I've recently purchased a 2000 Honda Insight in the UK, which I am delighted with. The 260 mile drive home went very well & I managed to achieve average (according to the Trip mpg display) 82mpg.

In my pursuit to do as much of the practical maintenance to this car myself I was hoping that someone with a bit more experience than me could advise on where I could obtain a Workshop Manual for the Insight. I have recently spotted one on eBay in America but I was wondering if there are any available in the UK? Second Hand would be fine...

Thanks

Hi Joe

Congratulations on your purchase! Welcome to the Forum and welcome to an even smaller band of Insight owners in the UK. You are welcome to join us on a UK Insight Owners Day sometime this summer (see separate topic).

I am looking for another Insight at the moment. Tell us about yours - where did you buy it? Is it UK or Jap spec? Colour? etc etc. Handy to know how much you paid, if you don't mind sharing.

You will have difficulty finding an manual. I doubt whether you can order it from a Honda dealership - as you say, probably will have to get it from eBay. Make sure an American seller is willing to post it to the UK before bidding.

You can get them from Helm. The main one covers all years, but seems to only cover the American version. Nothing about rear fog lights, or adjustable headlights, for example...let along "wrong" sided steering wheels.

Well done!

Welcome to this forum, I'm a relatively new member as well. This place is a treasure trove of information about Honda's great car.

We would like to know about your car, spec, price paid, miles etc if you don't mind.

Perhaps see you later in the year at the owners day.

I'm also interested in a Manual and have seen the one on e-bay, Perhaps we should buy one between us and scan it, copyright permitting.

Hi,

Thanks to everyone for your responses. My Insight is a 2000 model in green (the unique Honda Insight green) & is currently on 51000 miles from new. Previous owner from new, I bought it in Scotland. It drives really well!

Getting back to the issue re. the Workshop Manual, I received an e-mail back from the USA for the manual on eBay; shipping would be $46! Too much I think, considering the manual is up for $55 itself (buy it now).

I think it best to hold out for a while to see if I or anyone else can obtain one from the UK.

Keep me posted on discussions re. the Owners Meet this year, would be great to see some other Insights & their owners.

Thanks,

Joe

Hi we have cd 1.1 version INSIGHT ESM 6CDS3Y00B for Insight 00YM it is quite good

Also have shop manual Insight maintenance, repair and construction vol 1 2000
Honda number 62S3Y00 ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS IS IT ONLY COVERS HALF THE PARTS OF THE CAR (1146 pages very good on what it covers)

GENERAL INFO,SPECIFICATIONS,MAINTENANCE,ENGINE ELECTRICAL,ENGINE,COOLING,FUEL AND EMISSIONS,IMA,TRANSAXLE.

It does not cover:-
STEERING,SUSPENSION,BRAKES(INCLUDING ABS),BODY,HEATING VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING,BODY ELECTRICAL,RESTRAINTS.

It cost a lot and took a lot of sorting out with my Honda dealer due to the fact Honda had got all the numbers mixed up on there computer we also as yet have not been able to sorce the other half vol 2 ????

Mail us if you require any spacific help that is contained in the above we will do our best to help

Best wishes

Hi Phillip,

Could you possibly let me have the details for the routine tappet ( rocker clearance ) adjustments. My engine's just starting to sound a little rattly from the rockers but I don't know the clearances or sequence etc.

Thanks
David
