The Washington Post reported yesterday that the ACEEE's 2003 Green Book (the "Environmental Guide to Cars and Trucks") should be used as the "bible" for fuel-efficient cars, concluding that "the fuel-sippers are waiting for you, if you want them." Not surprisingly the Insight "still leads" the pack, outdistancing the closest competitor in its category by 26 mpg. The Toyota Prius (52 mpg) and Honda Civic Hybrid (51 mpg) also receive high ratings. As stated by the author, the Green Book is unique in that it ranks the fuel efficiency of all cars and trucks in their own category, rather than simply providing a list of the overall top performers.
