Hello all,
Title mostly says it all. Coming to the end of a ridiculous 8-month ordeal with my modern daily driver, a Subaru BRZ, I'm getting out of dodge and getting a vehicle I've wanted since I first discovered them years ago--a first-gen Insight. I just missed (by an HOUR) one that sold on CL for a STEAL literally across town from me so I'm doubling my efforts to acquire one. I'd prefer a 5 speed to the CVT. I'd prefer a stock or practically-modded one that looks decent. It's okay if it is rough around the edges as I'm just looking for a reliable daily with the occasional trip. Buying a used Insight is a little scary because I have been anonymously browsing this forum fora couple years and the owners are so capable and cultish around these vehicles, I can not imagine a reason why most would part with them. I can do regular minor-intermediate maintenance&repair (bushings, gaskets, connectors, R&R, R&Is). Air conditioning would be preferred unless you can talk me out of it.

I could fly and drive a road-trip ready one back if the price was right. I really want to convert the IMA battery to lithium when the time is right as some others have done, and I have the highly-specced battery to accomplish this ready.

I have a limited budget due to COVID and the dealership draining me on my Subaru, please PM me what you have. Thanks,
Brandon (east coast)

$3,000 or less?

$500 or less?

Those are both very nice and seem about adequately priced, but are slightly out of the budget I was aiming for. I was hoping to find something I could add value to, maybe needed a bit of work for under $3k. I wouldn't want to lowball them or take such good, low-mile examples of these cars and run them down. My luck with both branches and serious mechanical troubles (with low-mile cars) has not been good lately. Mostly still sour I missed the local steal so I am being cheap. I am contacting a few somewhat local sellers that do not appear to be on here in the meantime.
