Well I've ordered a set of Tanabe DF210 lowering springs along with a set of 15x7 Flat Black Rota Slipstream wheels and tires. Since I can't wait for my packages to show up I figured I would gawk at some modified Insights to hold me over.

As some of you may or may not know there's not many out on the web, only reoccurring images of Noblesse, Top Secret, and a few others that are mostly ruined by ugly body kits. I ended up going to google.co.jp and image searching for Honda Insight and found some that I would like to share with the community.

I hope everyone enjoys the pictures. Perhaps people could add their collection as well. I will post pictures of mine when everything is installed in about 2 weeks or so.

Cheers

Botoms photos are not the same as mine

Hey,
There is a plastic bottom aero panel after the left back wheel in some of you photos. My April 2010 Insight does not have it. I had wondered if I could make one for there myself, but now I am wondering if they forgot to install it.

About the IMA temp meter, I meant monitor, not meter.

It is a wired Radio Shack Indoor outdoor thermometor, which I put the outdoor probe in the exhaust of the IMA module, as close as I could get to that tub. So I beleive it monitors the output temp of the IMA module, I have seen it up to 40C, so those bateries still cook.

Hey I am new to the website and new to the Insight family...just bought one last week.

I like what you have all done to your rides and I curious about wheel size. I am looking to purchase 17"x7" to replace the factory wheels. Are 17's a good size to upgrade to? Is there any recommendation for tire size? Do you know of any good websites to buy wheel/tire packages? (currently looking on tirerack.com) Lastly, how does tire size affect MPG?

Sorry for all the questions, but I figured this be the best site to join. Thanks in advance for all your help!

Here are some photos of my modified Insight. The car has been lowered with Tanabe NF210s, 17x7 Kosei K1 TS Silver wheels, and 205/45ZR -17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus XL tires. I've also added a Sharkfin antenna with both FM and XM and added XM radio. Also replaced the lower front grille with the silver color used in the white Insights. It now has the more sporty look I wanted, but without being extreme.

Don't know the offset for the stock rims.

As I've said, depending on circumstances both the front and back rub on occasion. Don't think it will damage the tires, but I'm not taking any chances, thus the fender rolling. Rubs the top of the sidewalls on the rears; rubs the top outside edge of the tread on the fronts.

As far as I know, only two manufacturers make lowering springs for the Insight. Tanabe has an outstanding reputation for quality, which is why I bought them. Can't imagine you'll find better unless you go to the Mugen coilovers, which is a whole other thing beyond lowering springs. I have coilovers on my S2000 but I think they are major overkill for the Insight -- it's not a high-performance car and it's not meant to be driven like one.

My springs have held the distance constant -- they've been on the car for over three weeks, so we'll see.

I've studied the photos of the modified Insights. I can't imagine that some of those cars don't have very serious wheel rubbing issues. In some cases the cars have been lowered so much that they have a negative gap. I think some of them will be rubbing the fender liners big time.

yeah those tires dont rub on the modified I2's cause the offset of the tires were perfect for the them
i think 16'' wouldve worked better for our cars cause they wouldve probl not stuck out
either that or coilovers work really good
have you noticed that the first pic on the first page shows the front tires of the I2 a little bent in?
it looks nice actually

Well since they are posting pics of modified Insights, I thought I'd post some of mine and the stuff I've done

Haha, thanks. I like them cause they are just so different looking and are muuuch better on gas. The only thing I couldn't stand about Insights was the back end. It just looked so unfinished but after I built the wing, I love it!

It does both (in logic anyway)...My MPG went up right at 5 (also put a K&N filter when I did it) as for the power, I'm sure it did but by how much, I couldn't tell ya. Maybe 1-3 hp at 50mph? It does sound a bit meaner though since as I took the resonator out. Lol, my tails are smoked...Looked funny with them not.

im gettin a wing too so my car can look cooler :)

dang if i lived in florida i would deff take my I2 to u so u could work on it n make some parts for it!!
I take it your gonna get a Mugen wing? I'm no a huge fan of body kits or big wings but that whole kit really makes that car look really good! Well I'm actually in Houston TX...Just never changed my stuff over cause I don't like inspection stickers or license plates in the front :)
