I am about to buy the Honda insight hybrid from someone. The code P0AE1 popped up on the scanner. It is a Honda insight hybrid 2009. I don't know if they ever changed the battery.
I got the car and I took off the back trunk cover and got access to the battery case.
Some part of the battery case is rusty. I took off the switch cover and the switch was in the off position.
I turn the switch on and the ima light came off and the 12v battery started to charge. I scanned the car and reset the code and the P0AE1 came back. So I am guessing something in the battery assembly is failing which I will test.
I am still trying to figure out why or how the switch turned off.
Question if the hybrid battery sense that it's overloading or something would it switch to off for protection or something?
No codes after doing the 12v battery reset. I'm guessing a mechanic turned the switch off. The person who I bought it from said the Ima light was on and the 12v battery died. I don't see anything wrong it's now charging the 12v battery after I turned the switch on. Should I do a voltage test of the hybrid battery?
On the led driver only two wires for the input and output. I see you have 4 wires for input and output. Do I connect the red and black wire to the alligator clip, then connect to the battery?
The red and blue to the power outlet? Which color are L and N?
I charged the battery for 24hours with the cooling fan on. I waited 2 hours to start the car and my generic obd2 scanner showed 196.5F for the IMA Battery Temperature.
Before I charged the battery my generic obd2 scanner showed 167.4F.
Should I be concerned?
I don't know if it is showing the right data. It also shows 75% soc.
I look at another previous data before grid charging and it shows 206F.
If it was that hot wouldn't my check engine light or IMA light come on?
I don't have any codes other than ABS which my scanner can not read.
