2006, 300k miles, body is nice, interior meh,
CEL code P0420 (Catalyst below effiency [Bank 1]) & P1445. Heater doesn't work, ABS light on. Crunchy 2nd gear synchro.

$950? No IMA light and seems high voltage has a charge, but the P1445......

Any real gotchas there for a serious DIY?

P0420 usually solved with an O2 sensor spacer. P1445 mentioned at: Issue: P1445 Bypass Contactor How often do you need the heater in Sebring? ABS could be a sensor or bad wire. Again, not a necessity for driving. Syncro mod easy for serious DIY'er but the transmission comes out. You would be hard pressed to find a wrecked one for $950. Not much to lose at that price.

yeh IMA replacement was in my plan, and a trans pull is business as usual around here. Really have been following LTO replacement so may go for used IMA and wait on LTO or whatever. 950 for a nice looking 2 owner seems a go for. I dunno what heater issue 'is', but I've put aftermarket a/c into cars so how bad can a heater be???

A P0420 code on a 2002-2006 is not always as easy to solve with a spacer. The 02-06 has 3, O2 sensors and you could try 3 spacers in the correct locations and it might be a viable work around. The O.E. cats are very pricey for the 02-06.
A code for the heater circuit could be referring to an O2 sensor.

Is there a cat delete option and dummy sensor for post cat sensor?
