I bought a set from sears last spring. Give them a shout. Is everyone backordered on them or something ?

 

I tried to buy these tires from Sears on Black Friday, by calling them. They're out of stock.

I have a set of almost new tires. They still have whiskers on them. If you covered shipping, and whatever it would cost for me to get a new pair to replace them with, I'd be happy to send them your way.

Has Bridgestone discontinued this tire for the Insight?

No, they're just on backorder. It will be a sad day when they do though, and I'm afraid that time is coming sooner rather than later...

 

The Bridgestone tire that was OEM on European Insights was discontinued many months ago, so I expect the same to happen with the RE92 eventually. I don't know how one could find out whether this has already happened. Maybe the fact that dealers are listing them as backordered rather than discontinued is a good sign assuming that dealers actually know what Bridgestone is doing.

European Insight owners have been substituting other fuel-efficient tires. Because gasoline is much more expensive in Europe and there are many more small cars that use 165/65R14 tires compared with in North American, European Insight owners might have a wider choice of fuel-efficient tires. But even so, I don't believe that any tire has been found that is more fuel-efficient than the OEM tires that Bridgestone made for the Insight more than 11 years later So the search continues…

 

The new Pirelli (Cinturato P1 i think) is promising. Its not available in NA yet though, so a Euro owner who's imported RE92's would be the best person to compare them objectively on an insight.
