My Insight clocked up 300,000 miles almost 7 years ago. If it hadn't been sold and parked up all this time I bet it would show 400,000. Currently showing 330,000 and I'm taking it for an MoT tomorrow after lots of swearing with seized handbrakes! Video of it passing 300,000. Apologies if it goes on a while....

The sole reason I'm getting an Insight is due to this bloke & his YT feature on it. His channel - "The Late Brake Show" - is a must follow.

70mpg on the way to work today... the cluster was replaced some miles ago so it doesn't display odo miles accurately its around 308k miles though. Yesterday was 56mpg with a bit less practice on the 5spd and less lean burn + some background charging.

 

CAUTION:
Sometimes that gauge can be off a lot. Use the actual measured tank fill up for a better reading.

 

Yep... I filled it up with E0 this time + techron so probably won't be running that and may get lower MPG in practice also. I'll probably keep track of what a full tank nets me after I run this tank through....it has probably been sitting more for the past 2 years before I got it I expect but I'm not sure of that.

 

All, the document was in bad shape so I cleaned it up and listed how many miles you have first to make it easier to see our high mile champs. Please go to post #1 and access the document and update your info, I know my mileage was way out of date by almost a 100K. Thanks!

2000, Owned since new. 255K miles, 3rd battery cause hot climate, one was free, 63.9 MPG Never Reset, Best 150mpg down hill for 20 miles.

 

This was mine, in April and May 2023, in my Red 2000 5MT

Vredstein Quatrac 5 165/65 R14 at 62 PSI
72 Cell LTO IMA Battery
EFAS
Full lower grille block
Partial under-body aero
Rear wiper delete
Block and tx pan heaters

Probably could have made it to 1000. Oh well!

 

That's super impressive! what would you say your average speed for this was? Mostly intown driving?

 

Mostly hills around Atlanta. Try to go 50-55 on the highway for best results. Most of the driving was on the highway. The Insight does worse in-town than other hybrids with electric-only capability. The insight is a true Highway Star and it shines out there, smashing the Prius highway economy even without any mods.

Great tool. Beware that us Brits have bigger gallons (shouldn't American stuff always be bigger?),and we get more miles out of our gallons. Anyhow, that means UK mpg has to be divided by 1.2 for comparison with US mpg. And vice versa.

 

Maybe if the column "Name (or Insight Central name), Transmission type " were broke into 2, "Name (or Insight Central name)" and "Transmission type" more would remember to add that information????

Prolly obvious what type the transmission is from the MPG listed, but just asking.

I am nowhere near the best MPGs or highest miles, lol. Still the car has been awesome and I'm happy with the efficiency.

 

UK Newbie here, just purchased Gen 1, first trip home after collecting 190 miles 96.8mpg average.

 

with my 2002 Gen1 5spd I'm at 65.0 mpg for 219,896 miles.

 

Impressive, my lifetime average was a bit higher, but 100,000 miles less. Congratulations!

 

I'm not as good of a hypermiler as Right Lane Cruiser, who was the previous owner of my car. There is a screen shot from his dashboard in 2011 showing 93.0 mpg for 107,606 miles.

 

Whoops, looks like we had some mishaps with the document. Seems that all the data on the current version got erased with some new sheets being created as well. I just restored the version from February which looks like the last version with data.
