So I just finished converting the 2000 Civic sedan window regulator to fit in the Insight and it does work. You have to reuse the regulator and the top and bottom cable pulley and clip. To get the cables off the cable clip and pulley you have to Dremel a slot in each to remove and reinstall cables. Also the springs on the motor should be stretched just a tad to take up the extra slack. If anyone needs help with this let me know. Also I am a Honda Parts Manager and might be able to help locate parts.

2001 - 2003 Acura CL Clock Spring
This has the same screw hole pattern as the Insight clock spring but it has 7 wires coming through it (Insight has 3 used, plus 3 extra) so you can add buttons to your steering wheel. Same SRS wiring harness too by the looks of it.

Also, a link to this thread should be listed in the Common Topics sticky thread in this forum.
I swapped in a clock spring out of a 99 civic. I was at a wrecking yard and it looked like it would fit, figured I'd try. Had to de-pin the horn wire from the factory column harness and install it in the civic pigtail. The connector for the cruise witches inside the S2000 steering wheel was not the same, changed connectors. Airbag and horn plugged in fine. Now I have my brake lights wired up through the S2000 cruise button (as well as the pedal, of course) for easier regenerative braking

I just installed some shifter cable bushings that are advertised for a Civic. Perfect fit, description is "ADD W1 Honda Civic Si EP3 2002-2005 Shifter Cable Bushings" (very reasonable price I'll add)
Noticeable difference in shifter feel?

Insight Parts Interchange List & Junkyard Mods

As sale of new parts are discontinued, cars are scrapped, and used parts become rarer every day, I thought it important to resurrect this topic.

The purpose of this thread is to document alternate parts interchangeability so that we can find parts that we would not have thought of otherwise. (For example the Accord door handles)

We have discussed it previously (there is a 10 year old thread, but that title was "Honda parts only"; and the last time I posted this list it was hard to find under the Accord Door Handle title). Again, credit to Mathemaddicts.

If you know of another part, add to the list.

- [this is not a Junkyard Mod, but an important enough aftermarket wear item for consideration] NTK LAF sensor, part #24301, Amazon, $115.79 vs. $306.10 Majestic, two testers. jime

- 96 Civic Window Vent Shade (external vent visor for side door? (Thank you KevinD)

- Acura RSX or Civic Steering Column for Tilt Wheel Mod ?
Seat swaps - Sticky has interchanges "with some modifications" - Can anyone elaborate on this? Which years, what mods? I am looking for a left side driver seat that I can exchange with simple hand tools. (Bolt on and off would be perfect.)

how about the fuel guage? still read accurate?
can you share all findings regarding this swap?
I’ve run a tank through it so far, currently not driving much. The fuel gauge seems to be the only issue. I use that phrase loosely. Before my gauge would show full even after consuming about 2 gallons and now it shows one bar from full after filling up. If someone decides to use this pump assembly I would recommend swapping the level sender over.

'99 Acura TL3.2 clockspring is a direct fit, and has 6 usable wires (7 in, 6 out). Airbag and horn wires are on the same pins, so no modifications required. I assume any '99-02 TL3.2 clockspring will fit since it's the same generation. Note that the TL3.2 is a different clockspring than a base TL! I made that mistake on my first trip to the junkyard.

Another S2000 item we can add to the list:
Headlight / Turn Signal stalk. Mine went bad (common problem apparently with the headlights) and I tried replacing with the S2000 one I had, and it all worked perfectly. Exact fit, and all functions are the same.

Just replaced the wiper bushings with Dorman 49455, and it seems to be a damn near perfect fit. The biggest thing I'm worried about is that the linkages might be ever so slightly too thick for it to clip in quite right, but I might just need to clean things better.

02-05 Honda Civic Si or 02-06 Acura RSX solid aluminum shifter base bushings. These are a more or less bolt on replacement. Firmed up the shifts a lot. No noise.
I got them on eBay, the seller accepted a $9 offer. Ugly red color does not matter because they won't be visible after installation. Bonus side-effect was I used the old rubber bushings to hold up the shifter boot firm to the shifter knob. Snazzy.

With all the armrest threads, I'm surprised to see nobody has mentioned that you can bring the e-brake handle over from the same model year Civics:

My guess is that nobody has broken their factory handle lol. I was at the junkyard grabbing armrests yesterday and noticed that the e-brake is nearly identical to the Insight's.

It's a bit weightier and feels a bit nicer (IMO). Only downside is that it is 'slightly' longer, so your thumb runs into the front console when releasing the brake. It's definitely usable, and drops right in. No modification required.

I'll have it installed for the Mid-Atlantic meet if anyone is curious to feel it.

I'm also surprised no-one in this thread has mentioned that there are other vehicles that have the door handles we need. I found the same handles in early (95-00-ish) Odysseys and an early 00's Acura MDX.

Good to know! I have access to a '97 Odyssey/Oasis. It's 95-98 Odyssey and I think the Oasis continued until '99.
