Show me one. I think you are confusing salvage title with rebuilt salvage title.
Maybe we're both confused.

Here there's "WA REBUILT" aka salvage.

Then there's "PARTS ONLY" which cannot ever be titled for street use again.

EDIT: Forgot to add. In this state most of the time the title you receive has HUGE red lettering printed on it "WA REBUILT"

you cannot miss it.

One interesting thing is, sometimes you transfer said vehicle that had this across the face of it and the next person might receive one without the branding.......Makes no sense.

Yea you have to 'fix' the damage, but on the title it still says "Salvaged".

Sad thing is, you only have to fix cosmetic things. IMO they are way to lenient on the repairs required. I have seen cars with compromised structural integrity put back on the road because you can't see it unless you remove body panels.
It's the same way here.

They don't even care about cosmetics.

They will check the following here.

Receipts, SRS light function properly, all exterior lighting in place *no test for function* and vin numbers.

Smashed in door? Frame sideways? Wheel held on by one lug? You're good to go!

It's scary what they'll issue WA REBUILT *salvage* titles on here.

We have no safety inspections and the areas that have emissions testing, it's a compete joke.

They just check your gascap with a vacuum tester then check your obdii for readiness flags and check engine light codes. It's not hard to fool the obdii test if you're savvy.

MY upto 2000 can have TWO not ready flags and 2001+ can have ONE not ready status and still pass. Again, it's a money grabbing joke.

It's not hard to fool the obdii test if you're savvy.
Please provide more details, via PM if you want. I have a Miata that fails the OBDII test, and I'd like to get it registered again.

+1 Would love to know as well. Even my smog guy doesn't know of a way to fool the OBDII test.

Did you recently buy a blue manual out of metro detroit area?
Assuming this was directed at me. I did buy a dark blue CVT with 130k mi out of SC a couple weeks ago and it was written off by the insurance company due to hail damage and someone removed cat #2. Just put a straight pipe in place of cat #2 and having the hail damage removed as we speak. Can't say what I paid but the copart fees and my broker fees (I'm not a dealer so I rent a broker) were literally 50% of my buy price. Unless its a steal, I'm never and I mean never, going to buy from copart again. This car was the best Copart car I've bought but all the others were real bow wows.

Planning on keeping this car as its one of the few rust free cars I have and its value is diminished due to getting a 'rebuilt' title that I have not obtained yet.

Whats the phrase, "if its too good to be true, it is"? At least you willingly purchased the vehicle vs some private owner who indirectly screwed you over on gettin it back on the road.

Say what?
I'm very happy with my purchase. This car was written off for dead and will look great in one week and will be around for the next 30 years. What you smoking?
Where's the ignore button?

Each state has their own rules about how to get a salvage vehicle back onto the road.
Vehicles can be salvaged for all kinds of reasons, so each has its own process.

Once you figure out your own states rules/process, the next hurdle may be to get your insurance company to cover it.

Best of luck and feel free to share what you have learned in order to help others save time.

Cobb, Dear Sir or Madam as the case may be: My daddy told me you can always tell a jackass by its constant braying but you can't tell it very much.
